HYDROSTATIC TEST

The test Pressure shall be determined
by the following equation
P = 2 St/D
Where P = Hydrostatic Test Pressure in psl
S = allowable fiber strees (60 percent of the specified minimum yield strength for carbon and ferrite alloy
Steel and 50 percent of the specified minimum Yield strength for austenitic alloy steel) in psl.
t = specified wall thickness in inches/mm
D = specified or calculated outside diameter in inches/mm

The maximum hydrostatic test pressre shall not exceed 2,500 psl for nominal sizes 3 inches & under or 2,800 psl for nominal sizes over 3 inches.
